Maldives Travel / Maldives Resort, a cost-effective island boasting a beautiful Maldives sea - Villamendu Island Resort and Spa
If you're looking for the Maldives, we recommend Vilamendhu Island Resort & Spa.
That's right.
Vilamendhu Island Resort & Spa, a famous Maldives resort with many fish and coral reefs.
The cost-effectiveness is good for the price, so many people recommend it, and the room called Waterville is large and there is a large place with Jacuzzi.
If you want to feel the mood of the Maldives, I recommend the Jacuzzi Beach Villa.
They clean the room twice a day and there are various programs such as Sunset Cruise and Snorkeling.

Absolutely STUNNING”
snorkeling, the beaches are so beautiful, friendly staff
The Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa was amazing. It's in the south ari atoll in the maldives which means just pure postcard-esque beauty surrounds this tiny island. There was so much aquatic life surrounding the island so we saw reef sharks, a stingray, eagle rays and lots and lots of fish, right by the beach. you didn't even need to go snorkeling! Having said that, the snorkeling is fantastic, there are so many beautiful corals and so many different types of fish that there's always something to see. It's a good idea to bring your own snorkel though, as renting snorkels from the dive centre is us$9 a day, not including GST. The island has areas and trips that are adult-only, which is nice if you're looking for something romantic and couple-y. The spa is very lovely and is over the water, with windows on the floor so you can watch the fish swim by as you're lying face-down getting massaged. There is a very wide array of exceptionally delicious food but very little, if any, local food. So if you're looking for a true maldivian experience, this probably isn't quite the place for you. We started out on an inhabited island first and then moved to the resort island so felt like we got the best of both worlds. I was traveling with my sister and i think we were one of maybe three non-couples. The resort is perfect for relaxing and spending time getting away from the craziness of life and yet also has activities planned for people who would still like to "do something". The staff are so friendly and helpful and helped make our stay even better (not that hard to do considering how STUNNING the maldives are) Also, the easiest way to get here is by sea plane - a pretty amazing ride but expensive. Apparently you can also get here by ferry and speedboat, which is cheaper, but longer, and the details of how to do either were never really made clear!

Villamendu Island Resort and Spa in Maldives
Review
Vilamendhoo made our honeymoon special ”
Excellent white sandy beach, Friendly staff, Great accommodation and nice food
We finally found a resort for our 4-night stay in Maldives. It is not easy to find a resort with very minimal bad reviews especially related to poor customer service, discrimination to Asian people, poor accommodation and bad food. But, NOT with Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa. Everything was good from email communication before the journey, arrival and departure as well as while we were on the resort. Thanks to the good management, friendly and efficient staff. Our beach villa is excellent and we requested specifically a room with a nice view (via email) and we got it. What made me surprise is 2 housekeeping services per day - one in the morning/afternoon and another in the late evening. We took once per day only. The island and the resort is clean and well maintained! The Furama restaurant (for those staying in Garden and Beach villas) provides excellent food for your breakfast, lunch and dinner...not a problem for Muslims. The restaurant will allocate you a table and a waiter for your entire stay. Special note to Arash (one of the cheff) who is very friendly and always be there when we need to know more about the food). Both Bonthi bar and Sunset bar have a scheduled activity every night either movie night, karaoke night, crab race night and others. We really enjoyed the Crab Race!!! We also enjoyed snorkeling and kayaking around the island. *Few things that we don't prefer: 1-Boashi and Sunset swimming pools are deep. The depth starts at 1.5 m 2-Arrival - the person who handled our arrival did not attentive enough (not provide enough info) as another staff did to other guests 3-Departure - the person at concierge who handled our departure was quite not friendly and did not mention "Thank you for staying with us and please do come again" ( Why did I expect this?) But, everything was excellent enough to my wife & I for our honeymoon! Thanks Vilamendhoo!
Amazing holidays”
Food, island and SPA
We spent our holidays in Vilamendhoo resort on march 2014, we also had two birthdays. It was our first time in Maldives, but definitely not last. Vilamendhoo island and resort was amazingly good, just so perfect, like a dream! Staff was very friendly, everyone smiles to You, very good services. Food at funama restaurant was so good and tasty, that we never chosed to go somewhere else (there is few more places to eat). Amazing SPA, girl with a name IRA was a very very professional, for me and my wife massages was best in the world! I also took diving courses (scuba diving) at Eurodivers and my instructors was Michelle and Roman. Both of them is very good, specially very big thanks to Roman Derka, thank You for sharing Your experience with me, now I am capable to dive! :) Will never forget those great and friendly peoples! Vilamendhoo island is very good place to rest, to snorkel, to dive and to spend Your time very effectively. Reef is amazingly good, a lot of fishes, no strong currents, also two very nice beaches with a lot of sand. In evening very nice events at bar (karaoke, crab races, ocean discovery etc.) A lot of excursions, nice kayaks, good water sports activities, footbal, mini golf, tennis and badminton. Island is very clean, very nice and beautifull. We coming back to Vilamendhoo in our next holidays, this is a place that You cannot even dream about it! :) Heaven on earth! From negative side: There was only a few negative things and this is only if You are travelling with children. There is not a lot of activieties for children, just one small playground and one small pool. Games room near reception is very poor, nothing to do in there for children 5 years old. Also if You have children You cannot order beach villa with jacuzzi and water villas, one side of island is also only for adults, same with excursion. Hope they can improve this in some kind.
My advice on paradise”
A lot of vegetaion just above the water
We (my wife and me) were on Vilamendhoo for 7 nights in the beginning of May. It was our 3rd journey to Maldives in the last 12 month' period (previous were Reethi Beach Resort and Kuredu). There were no free beach villas for reservation on Vilamendhoo web site, but we reserved a villa through Agoda. So my first recommendation on this island is to search for a free accomodation on Agoda (if there is no free accomodation on an island web site) - no one else reservation system will help you. A few days before our flight to Male I have written a special accomodation request to a reservation office. I have asked them for a detached beach villa within room numbers 170-196. We were very pleased having got a villa 183 - thank you, Vilamendhoo! My second advice is to ask for detached villas (you can find their numbers on island map - detached villas are smaller one's red rectangles). These villas will give you much more privacy and isolation from other guests. My next advice is how to choose this or that part of an island. You must bear in mind that Villas 132-212 are on the North shore, and other villas with buffet restaurants, reception and jetty are on the South. All island beaches (except in front of villas 197-212) are shadowed with palm trees, so it is worth to know that you will have more sun on the Nothern part. And If you look at the island map you will notice that the northern shore slightly changes direction near villas 173-175. This curve deprives you of afternoon sun if you stay at villas 132-173 and gives you a pleasure of evening sun and sunset if you stay in villas 175-212. Some words about Funama Buffet restaurant. When you will come there for a first time upon arrival, a staff will give you a permanent table for your entire stay. I advise you to be more persistent and force them to give you a table closer to the water - it could be rather hot inside. It is also adviseable to have a dinner on the open terrace of a restaurant - these tables are free.
Beautiful House Reef”
We loved the house reef, the set-up of the island and the over-the-water bungalows.
Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa is a great choice for both families and couples. The resort is set up so that one end of the island is for families and the other end for couples. The dining areas, the pools and the rooms are separate for families or couples. This makes for a very comfortable environment for both. In our opinion, the house reef is one of the best we've been to in The Maldives. We just stepped off the deck of our water bungalow and it was a very short swim to the reef. It is chock full of schools of fish, gorgeous corals, moray eels, sting rays, bait balls, octopus, turtles, lion fish and sharks. Every time we snorkeled (which we did every day, at least once) we saw something new. We went on a Manta and Turtle cruise. Didn't see any manta rays, but we did see a whale shark. We were able to get in the water and snorkel with it. The crew worked very hard to ensure we saw something interesting. Very cool. The only thing cooler was when we saw an ornate ray in about three feet of water on the house reef. These are very rare, but there it was. We are divers, but snorkeling on the house reef was so colorful and beautiful we didn't see the need to go diving. The food, the pool and the water bungalows are all above average. The only complaint I have is that it is a long walk from the lobby to the couple end of the island. A small quibble. We will definitely go back to Vilamenhoo Island Resort.
